Hike for Hospice raised more than $20,000 for St. James hospice care

A rare sunny day greeted walkers for St. James Community Service Society's first annual Hike for Hospice event on May 6. A great crowd turned out for the event that surpassed fundraising goals; $20,078 has been raised (and we're still counting...).

FEBRUARY 2012 – One step closer to affordable housing at former Remand Centre on Gore Street

The development application for affordable housing at the former Remand Centre on Gore Street has now been submitted to the City of Vancouver. Details are available here and the City is inviting comments for staff review by March 1.

 JULY 2011 -- St. James Community Service Society mural celebrates 50 years

Improving the lives of vulnerable people in Vancouver's Downtown Eastside is what St. James Community Service Society is about and has been about for half a century. In keeping with this goal, SJCSS is proud to unveil, at the Powell Street Festival, a mural by Vancouver artists Joey Mallett and Rita Buchwitz.
