
Building Caretaker
The Building Caretaker is responsible for the successful day to day operation of three (3) apartment buildings, which include a total of 70 low-cost supported housing units. This include duties such as minor building maintenance, cleaning, rent collection, unit inspections and maintaining positive tenant relations.
· Certification in building management and maintenance or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
· One year’s recent related experience
· Current First Aide/CPR Level 1 Certificate required.
· Ability to communicate effectively in English verbally and in writing.
· Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
· Demonstrated reliability and initiative
· Basic knowledge of inventory administration.
· Excellent interpersonal and problem solving skills.
· Ability to perform repetitive tasks and lift heavy loads up 40 kg (88 lbs).
· Demonstrated ability to organize and schedule work to meet deadlines in a dynamic working environment.
· Ability to operate basic computer programs including MS Outlook and Word.
· Demonstrated knowledge of the Residential Tenancies Act of British Columbia as Social Housing programs.
· Ability to work in a stressful and changing work environment.
· Ability to work with, and empathize with people suffering from abuse, poverty, family violence, cross-cultural issues, addictions, AIDS, and other life-limiting illnesses.
· Knowledge and understanding of multi-residential building systems and equipment
