The candidate must have training in quality food production with a diploma from a recognized course or the equivalent combination of education and experience.  Completion of a recognized course in Food Safe I and II is required.  Previous supervisory experience in institutional, hotel or restaurant cooking is preferred.  The candidate must be able to communicate effectively in English verbally and in writing. The candidate must be able to take initiative and work with minimal amount of supervision. The ability to work with, and empathize with people suffering from abuse, poverty, family violence, cross-cultural issues, addictions, AIDS, and other life-limiting illnesses, mental illness, the grief process, and the impacts of colonization and assimilation on Canadian First Nations and Métis people would be an asset.
