Nominees for Board of Directors Sought
As a registered society and charity St. James is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors and in 2010, the current Board is looking to recommend a select group of new candidates for election in order to fill some identified skills gaps and further reflect the diversity of the communities we serve.
We are particularly looking for individuals with prior experience of working on, or with, a policy-led Board of Directors, and who have the following skills / experience and backgrounds:
- Individuals with direct connection with the work of the Society and the needs of the community (e.g. those who may have used services such as emergency or social housing at one point or another in their lives; professionals who work in directly applicable areas such as housing or community healthcare; family members of those who may have used related services; those who live and / or work in the DTES, etc.).
- Individuals who are members of the Aboriginal / First nations and Asian communities, in particular.

Looking for new board members
I would like to see more overlap of interests and participants who are already involved in these following groups:
Carnegie Centre and their committees.
The local Oppenheimer park groups.
St.James needs a go-to person who can foster an ongoing relationship with the Strathcona Business Improvement Association.
We need a similar go-to person who can foster an ongoing relationship with the Community Police office.
